15 New Computer Labs from GivePower and Endless Connect Students in Nepal

In the Bajura District of Nepal, more than 80% of the population relies on agriculture for their livelihoods. Schools in the region are some of the most remote in Nepal, and reliable, educational technology has been difficult to secure.

GivePower Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides solar-based solutions to secure food, water and electricity for people in regions that need them most, with support from Endless Network, has equipped 15 schools in the region with solar power and computer labs featuring educational content on Endless OS. The OS has been designed for first-time users with mechanics that are easy to navigate and content that is engaging and fun, and is packed with expansive offline-capable learning materials, powerful creativity tools, games, and more.

Connecting these students with these invaluable resources faced considerable challenges, including global technology shortages, shipping delays, and monsoon season. At the heart of the project were strong collaborations between Endless, the local school district, remote teams, installation partners and on-site trainers, who helped teachers and school staff set up the technology.

These new computer labs and offline internet resources offer these students opportunities for learning they otherwise wouldn’t be able to access. And with local governments and school systems beginning to embrace technology-driven approaches to improve education and bridge the digital divide, we can’t wait to see what this partnership has in store.
