4 Ways We’re Celebrating CSEdWeek 2021

Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) is an annual call to action to inspire K-12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers and partners to the field.

Here’s four ways we’re celebrating this year:

1) Writing Poetry….with Code

December 7, 2021: Streams at 10AM ET and 1PM ET

Art, poetry and code all in one? Sign us up! Express yourself at Poem Art Hour of Code with Code.org and use code to learn more about the power of language as an art form Tune into this special session of CodeBytes where they’ll show students how to get started with the Poem Art Hour of Code activity.

2) Coding Doja Cat’s New Music Video

On your own time

It’s true: you can now direct Doja Cat’s newest music video on behalf of a partnership between the global superstar and Girls Who Code. The DojaCode experience lets you change the story and unlock exclusive content in the rapper’s new music video for hit single Woman -- all using code.

3) Gathering for Virtual Fireside Chats

Multiple Time Options

Google’s Ignite Experiences are a fun way to introduce your students to Google professionals who use computer science in interesting ways every day. From a YouTube Sports Director to innovative engineers, the chats will feature various perspectives for students to learn from! These virtual fireside chats will last 45 minutes and include time for Q&A.

4) Finally Cracking “The Bunker”

On your own time

To beat Terminal Two’s game “The Bunker,” players write code to construct defensive towers to defend a base from attacking forces, create new code objects, and write functions that change various attributes of each tower. Like true code, this game demands precision, but also encourages creativity.
